Advantages of becoming an LIC agent:

The biggest and the foremost benefit of becoming an LIC agent is the freedom to choose working hours and place. LIC does not restrict its agents to be bound in a typical 9-5 job but it sets its agents free to decide their own working hours and place and do it as per their own convenience. It does not even restrict any other occupation to be carried out along with the agency of LIC. Thus, you can become an LIC agent without compromising with your current/future occupation and develop it as an additional source of income. One can even work it as a part-timer in time spared from other engagements. Many people find it as a part of their existing occupation such as tax consultants, lawyers, accountants, teachers, housewives, retired persons etc.

How to become an LIC agent:

As suggested earlier, anyone who is equal or above 18 years of age and educated upto 10th is an eligible candidate. If you possess this minimal qualification and interested in becoming an LIC agent in your city, which we know you are, just fill in the given application form to express your interest.

The information you provide by filling up the application form, would then be shared with an official of the company. Who would check the details provided by you and then communicate with you for further proceedings.

Things you should keep ready for the process include 6 passport sized photos, Copy of Class 10 mark sheet and a valid address proof which can be a Voter ID, Aadhar card, Driving license and copy of PAN card.

Once you have complied with the given formalities, you would be asked to undergo a 25 hours of training to make you aware of the essentials and get you prepared for a formal exam being conducted by Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDAI). You will be awarded with an appointment letter and an ID card on successful completion of the examination and you are ready to start your agency.

Development officers always stay in touch with the agents in their team and offer required support whenever it is required.

Remuneration

Eligible LIC agents earn both fix emoluments as well as attractive commission on each policy they sell. Agents keep getting due commission in their account every time a policy holder deposits his/her premium. Thus a policy once sold keeps paying to the agent for its entire tenure. Cumulative commission, over the time, burgeons into a handsome periodical income for the agent.

Rewards

Not only commission, but agents are also rewarded with attractive incentives as they scale up in terms of business. LIC keeps rewarding its agents with lucrative performance based benefits. They include:

  • Club memberships with multiple benefits viz.  BM Club, ZM Club, Galaxy Member, Corporate Club, The Chairman’s Club, etc.
  • Interest free loan for all your needs.
  • Several performance incentives.
  • Commission to nominee in case of death of the LIC agent.
  • International recognition in the form of Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT)
  • Retirement benefits including pension and gratuity.

Add an additional source of income to your portfolio:

Anyone including a fresher, a housewife, a retired person or someone already employed/occupied anywhere such as an accountant, a tax consultant, a lawyer, an advocate, a teacher, student, shop-keeper etc. can become an LIC agent and work from home or their place of interest. Unlike other sales jobs, insurance is a subject matter of solicitation.
